Checkin’ back in–I might be at MGM instead of Excal, still making plans for LV. Breath, I do remember! I think our talk got a bit buried in the shuffle of the other 100+–so unique, you know. Keefriffh and Marianita, I would love to interview you sometime. Hey, I’ve got it. I’m possibly doing a book on Keith and Mick, and maybe each one of you could talk to me about, well, your views on Keith or Mick or both. Ahhhh, I think we’ve got it. Write me? I’m just getting this thing off the ground. I’d love to hear from more of you if you are interested. I want to bring in the fan perspective, even though this one’s not about the fans per se like the last one. I like Sebastian Kruger’s version of that photo, Cocaine Eyes, called “The Fugitive.”

Hi Angee. I love that pic because Keith is wearing a Tibetan Prayer flag as his scarf. I also wear Tibetan Prayer flags as scarves!

it boggles my mind why they would even do OldChella and Vegas. In my mind, the Stones’ “action” is more NYC, Boston, Toronto, etc.

It’s pretty much a paid vacation. After spending the summer together in the recording studio — doing patchwork overdubs for the Havana Moon concert film — they’ll relax out West with two shows for Coachella, one week apart where they pick up $7 for each show, then they’ll head to Vegas for another probably $20-odd million. There will also be distribution $$$ to be made from the inevitable film, DVD, CD, and cable deals from Coachella, the publicity of which will keep the Stones “active” in the concert zeitgeist well into 2017 without their having to actually work. The payoff from Coachella alone will be greater by far than just another 14-date concert tour.

Speaking of which, just to ensure that the next run through the Northeast U.S. markets is not “just another 14-date concert tour”, they’ll need some new product, a new concept (i.e., a new album or, at the very least, a new reissue). Because the last time they rolled through the Northeast it was for 50 & Counting, which is now counting at 54 or so, and since Universal doesn’t want a new Rolling Stones album for this year, this next run through U.S. and Euro, etc., markets will have to wait until 2017.

Hi any news ofanyother dates and locations please ?

Yeah i was just thinking its hardly worth them getting back together and rehearsing for three gigs.

Its strange that more shows have not been added yet, i have thought all along that this tour isn’t going to happen.

If they want to sell tickets they had better release some gigs now because time is running out.

Hi Selene!! Nothing. Radio silence. It seems Vegas isn’t selling well so there’s nothing new. The film Havana Moon is the only thing on the horizon and the film at TIFF.

. (Why are tickets STLL available for Vegas????) ~CE

Most people in the Southwest and Pacific coast that would have gone probably dropped the big bucks on Oldchella. Also, $1600 for a pair of good seats…for the same 18 songs as last year…there’s only going to be so many takers for that in Vegas. It’ll be a cool bonus show for Bluzdude and the others who are going, though. Nice arena instead of a windswept stadium. Plus a good chance if you originally got mediocre seats that you could get upgraded.

Yes please on the upgrade. $400 was a tough pill to swallow for arena uppers after spending the same for a row 3 floor last time out, but in light of the lack of any news about a rest of a tour at the moment, a bonus show indeed.

Re. pre-concert plans for Stones fans for the Vegas concert/T  Mobile Arena Wed Oct, 19th.

The fansite “Shidoobees” have checked into a lot of info for planning where best to have the pre-concert meet-up just before the concert. As most of us are aware, the Shidoobees have a long good history of successful, well-attended pre-concert meet ups. They really do it all up fun. I’ve been reading the thread they have going on their website re. this. I asked about eoms.org members attending and they are welcoming us with open arms. When I asked them if there will be a cover charge they say “Just say Shidoobee” when we enter the place called Money Plays. It is 3.1 miles from the T Mobile arena according to the Shidoobees organizing this.

They’ve checked out a few locations and have decided on a place called “Money Plays”. It is not directly on The Strip. Address is 4755 W. Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89103. (On Shidoobee they state the street as Flamingo BLVD but actually is is W Flaming Rd, in case any of you need the exact address for planning an Uber ride, etc.)  It a few blocks west of The Strip and the I-15. Sounds like they are really going to do it up well there. Money Plays will be letting the group have specific Rolling Stones themed stuff. Here’s the link to the most recent & pertinent thread on Shidoobee re. all this.

Initially my first thought when this whole concert came up was for the Wed Oct 19 pre-concert party to meet at NY/NY since it’s right next to the T Mobile arena. Or someplace else next door (The Mirage) to the arena. However, the Shidoobees checked into the details of two of those places and it ended up being a no-go. NY/NY too expensive I believe is what they found out. and the other place right by there will be shut down for renovations. That whole area will be so packed with other people just like us that it is rather worth it to go a little bit off-strip.

Re. after concert meet-up- I don’t believe there’s been any talk of that at least yet, on the Shidoobee website.

Re. possible Tuesday Oct 18th plans:

On the Shidoobee website it sounds like there might also be a possibility for a Tues Oct 18th meet up which could very likely be held real close to where most people are staying near the arena. The assumption being that there won’t be so much of  a heavy congestion of tourists, etc the night before the concert, therefore more of a choice to meet close by.

Of course, if the Shidoobees don’t really have any firm plans for Tuesday night or if eoms.org members want to make their own plans then of course we could do that. Just let each other know here what would fit you the best.

    Other activities:

It sounds like some of them are also wanting to go on the “giant ferris wheel” a.k.a “The Link” by noon, I believe it is on Wed Oct 19th they are talking about doing this. On the pre-party thread I described some details about my experience on The Link ferris wheel.

Doug is a truly nice guy. Met him several times over the years. The site took a big time nosedive awhile back, though and has become a cult-clique kinda place.

He truly is a gem of a guy. I’ve also met Keith, his partner/husband. They’re both beautiful people. I don’t post there (haven’t for a long time) but if you see a person named Put Your Lips To My Hips…….it’s me!! Lately, it does seem a tad clique-ish as you say, Tod. Maybe that’s why I post here not there??

I have been to a couple “gatherings” of Shidoobees….it’s like a cult. At a bar before a San Diego show, they wanted nothing to do with non-Shidoobee folks. When I ran into a “bunch” at a Waddy show, every sentence and comment started with “Stionesdoug says this or Stonesdoug says that”….I thought it was a cult or something. Is he really the god of all Stones info?

As for Stonesdoug, I’ve never met him so I have nothing negative to say about him. Maybe if I knew him, he would be my best friend????

I can't tell you the way I feel because the way I feel is oh so new to me.......or whatever

the difference between Doug and BV is (aside from obvious personality differences) that Doug actually does have inside connections; BV does not, despite what he would have you believe.  I like Doug but not what his site and his membership turned into…a cult, as you indicate. I still have a handle there (forget what it is!), but haven’t posted in many years.

It just occurred to me since its Vegas there are bound to be no shortage of potential duet guests. <checks October residencies> oh boy…elton john, billy idol, olivia newton-john, britney spears. Britney has a show at 9:00 the same night so it seems that those of us going to Vegas have at least dodged that bullet.

They could still do a “virtual” duet where Britney appears on the video screens at the Stones gig and Mick appears for the Spears audience. Elton is out because of his past feuding with Keith; Stones fans don’t care about Billy Idol whose main hits were from the eighties anyway; Olivia is too old (for Mick); so that just leaves the obvious. Recall also how Mick is fond of fishing for a younger audience. And with the technology available as mentioned above… sorry if I have ruined your day.

Ha that’s what I was getting at, with the fishing for a younger audience. Britney having a new single or album or something, God help me if it takes off. Then again, bonus beer/piss break.

Note: I just posted this same info on the new thread for the 2nd vegas show—now I realize I probably needed to post it here instead or also:

For anyone interested in a pre-concert meet up for Oct 19 you might want to consider going to the party being given by the folks over on the Rolling Stones fan site “Shidoobee”.

I asked several weeks ago on their website about people from eoms.org attending. They said fine, great, they were very welcoming. They do need to know who is planning to attend. They have a thread now just for the purpose of finding out who plans to go. There appears to be over 160 people so far who have their names written on the list on that thread now.

It’s going to be held at a locals place not far from The Strip. It’s called “Money Plays” and is on W. Flamingo Rd, just west of The Palms Hotel & Casino. They checked out venues close to T Mobile Arena but for a variety of reasons, including financial & availability, they decided on “Money Plays”. It sounds like they really have a lot of good experience setting up & hosting these pre-Stones concert meet ups.

Anyone who is planning to attend needs to register (if you haven’t already) on “Shidoobee” so you can then post that you are planning to attend.

I don’t believe that a specific time has been decided yet. For ongoing info register, and then read/post on the topic of Las Vegas Oct 19th and you’ll see several threads under that topic. The 1st one is ongoing discussions/info re. planning the party. The 2nd thread is for signing up for the party.

Sounds like it will be fun.

This link to the Shidoobee threads for Oct 19th should work:
