This was by far the best show so far

Just “best show so far,” not “best show ever”? C’mon, young riffhards, you can do better than that!

Sorry LBA but i thought it was obvious i meant best show so far our of the 2016 SA tour . Perhaps i need to be more specific in future, but you’re probably the only one on here who is listening, so i doubt it matters.

Here’s JJF, a song that hasn’t made it to YouTube much in this tour. It’s pretty standard by Stones 50+ terms. It highlights Keith’s great guitar tone above all. Mick starts off weak, but gets into it a little later on. Ronnie seems content to play the little lick that embellishes the coda, straight from the word go and all the way through, which kind of lessens its impact. I kinda wish the backing singers would hold off until the end for the same reason. At any rate, the most notable thing Mick and Keith communicating to end the tune. That type of thing seems so normal, but of course was as rare as hen’s teeth for so many years.

Here’s Brown Sugar. I had to check this just to see if that silly business with the backing singers happens again at the end. Thankfully it doesn’t. Could it be they realized it was a weak move?

Apparently not. They just decided to sully the end of a tour best version of SFTD with it instead. ( I said tour best, relax!!!)

Kudos to Chuck, by the way, for not plinking and playing those chunky chords like Nicky Hopkins used to.

and here’s the vote winner. LARS, with Keith chipping in on the chorus!

Hey, that song contains many of the same notes as the song we used to think of as “Jumping Jack Flash.” (Not all of them, mind you, but a fair number of them!)

That was a very good show, especially the last Three numbers

Don't you think it's sometimes wise not to grow up?

I thought LARS was good! Not a favourite by a long stretch, but I think they did a very good version.

Good to see that Keith didn’t mess up Angie this time. In fact, he played beautifully on it.

LARS is probably my all time favorite rock song….but I don’t like – no, I LOATHE the way the Stones do it.  It’s beyond unlistenable.  And it’s a dumb, stupid, idiotic idea to even try the song.  It would be like Bobby singing “Like a Bob Dylan.”   they must stop and desist this travesty or else I will have to take drastic measures…

Like you once said, IIRC – the “how does it feel” part feels like Mick trying to raise the support of a 50,000 people crowd to put down one poor little girl.

correct. the song isn’t a song of celebration like Mick would have it.  look at the lyrics, mickey – it’s a biting, sneering, hateful song. seriously, they completely blow the plot-line on this one.  next thing you know they will invite family children on stage to sing woo-hoo during sympathy for the devil….whoops!
