Not sure after all this time that a Blues album will suffice after over a decade of virtually no Mick and Keith compositions.

I will take the album and probably really enjoy it, but am i alone in feeling a bit disjointed in receiving an album of mostly covers.

I can only assume that after this length of inactivity from Mick on the writing side of his creativeness, that he has writers block, or he just knows he can’t create at the level he wants to anymore.

Apart from a couple of songs here and there Mick has been extremely inactive when it comes to what he does best.

Dare i say it, but could Mick have been a little bit intimidated by Crosseyed Heart, Keith singing is not to everyone’s taste but CH more than showed that Keith still has his creative juices flowing, the MoJo is still evident, its just that now we will never know what one last effort from Mick and Keith would have sounded like.

    You thoughts please.

    Does Mick have writer’s block?

    Maybe,

But I completely welcome this blues album of covers.

I can't tell you the way I feel because the way I feel is oh so new to me.......or whatever

Exactly. Commit a Crime is one song I’ve been wanting to hear them cover for ages. I’ll reserve my opinion until I have given the album a full listen. That being said, I think they’ll put out another record of originals but what do I know.

no playing dirty intended, actually i’m one (of the few) that likes streets of love. Stones ballads rock. Come on, sing aiaaaiaaai I walk the streets of love and they’re full of tears
And aiaaaiaaai walk the streets of love and they’re full of fears

Takes all kinds to make the world sweetheart, but Mick is such a wanker sometimes, but other times when like today i was looking at all the Glimmer Twins moments and it was so clear to see how much he loved Keith, sometimes i wonder if he loved Keith in more than just a buddy brotherly way.

Oh yes Mick is a wanker and a greedy bastard. I think he’s got to much power within the group nowadays, and i cant understand how good ole Keef can stand it. Its lovely to see old pictures of those two. I think they should play a free concert in a small city in the middle of europe to make some rocknroll chaos again and they should make you and me and other fans made the setlist. They owe us, or lets say Mick owe us. We have been suffering this vegas era for too long now, and it is Jagger’s fault, not Keith’s

Bless your hear for saying Ms M but truth be told Keith sold out years ago too because he is a lazy bastard.

I get a strong impression these guys have sold their soul to the Elite, they are part of everything i stand against. They have the media and the money men all onside and it stinks, they lost integrity for the music years ago. Keith in his own way tries to make up for it and and appears as the roots man but really he sold out just the same as Mick. He is either week around Mick or he has evolved beyond ego and just doesn’t get drawn on to the alpha male dominance thing anymore. keith comes across recently as incredibly happy is his own skin and at peace with the world, he can’t fake that , but when it comes to his day job (playing with the Stones) he doesn’t commit to it in a way that shows he cares anymore, maybe Keith is over it (rock and roll) and just continues out of some kind of misguided loyalty to his band mates, who knows. I get the feeling i’m helping someone with their book, maybe i should save it for my own book lol.

    what?

Sorry i wrote loads about the blues album and how i don’t get excited about it because any decent band can do blues covers, and only the Stones can write the music they write when they take the blues to another dimension (R & R ). Somehow it disappeared and i was left you with an O haha

I get the feeling i’m helping someone with their book, maybe i should save it for my own book lol.

he he i think you got something there. Maybe they should call themselves The Mick Wanker band. Im looking forward to the blues album, Keith’s good at that but on the other hand it cant be maximum blues, Taylor aint there <img class=”emoji” src=”https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/2/svg/1f609.svg” alt=”

    0

    what?

Sorry i wrote loads about the blues album and how i don’t get excited about it because any decent band can do blues covers, and only the Stones can write the music they write when they take the blues to another dimension (R & R ). Somehow it disappeared and i was left you with an O haha

but the last Keith album was lots of blues, why shouldnt this album be good? I think stones albums since early 80s are very Jagger dominated, hope Keith is the captain on this one 🙂

Don't you think it's sometimes wise not to grow up?

I’m sure this Don Was quote is somewhere else on this site, but it confirms the writer’s block.

The Rolling Stones’ new album of blues covers was created after attempts to record new material faltered, producer Don Was has told the BBC.
“We’d gone in the studio to start cutting some new songs,” said Was, who has worked with the band since 1994.

“Around day three we just hit a wall… and Keith suggested that, to cleanse the creative palette, we played Blue and Lonesome, the Little Walter song.

“Fortunately we ran the tape and it was just awesome.”

He told BBC Radio 6 Music: “The whole mood of the room changed dramatically in those three-and-a-half minutes. So we said, ‘let’s do another one’, and ‘let’s do another one’.

“They just called songs off that they knew and loved. It was very spontaneous. And by the end of the day we had six.”

The result is Blue and Lonesome, the band’s first studio album since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.

Was added that the Stones had not abandoned plans to complete an album of new material.

“Both Keith and Mick have some great new songs,” he told Matt Everitt. “They’re far from done.”
