BLONDIE is the BOMB! Saw him with Butterfield and Danko on that ’79 tour – still to this day one of my all-time fave shows and Blondie stole it from the headliners, both of whom I was a huge fan.

Blondie rock’s, wow you saw him in 79, must have been awesome indeed. can i ask who the headliner was?

yes you may ask!  you could even demand that I tell you!

It was the Danko-Butterfield Band  – Rick, from The Band on bass and of course Paul Butterfield (who should need no introduction to anyone) on harp/vocals.  Rick and Paul had done some collaborations in recent years and Blondie had recently put out a fine solo album that had contributions from both Paul and Rick.  The act was a showcase for all three principals, who each got turns at the mic…but what I remember most was the incredible work of Blondie…not just his prodigious chops, but his antics…he’d hop on top of the grand piano while delivering a solo and stuff like that.  More recently I saw Blondie with Brian Wilson during his Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary tour….the middle part of the show was given over to Blondie, who flashed some amazing guitar work…sang Sail on Sailor, etc….he still has it after all this time.

Also – I just remembered, I had a brief conversation with Blondie in 2002 outside the Wiltern Auditorium the day before the Stones show there….I told him I enjoyed the work he did with Rick and Paul on that tour….he asked me which show I saw….I told him the Eugene, OR show at the EMU Ballroom – he told me he remembered that one and it was indeed one of the best of the tour….

Is there even a need to talk about it here? I started about two months ago. But I believe it’s not going to be a great deal about the Stones because after that there’s going to be another one and so on… I believe the Stones feel very strongly about us. That’s why they have their crew taking pics and videos of fans dancing. I believe it’s going to be their move to gather all their fans for the final meetup. Both of you are going to be there, as is going to be the devil in whatever disguise. He’s going to claim at least one of them and I fear it might be… no, not gonna tell.

i grew up with a dad playing stones all the time. I remember how i fancied them looking at pictures, record covers and thought they were coming from another dimension. I could sit at home as a kid singing my loungs out while listening to them long before i had any english lesson at school singing this babbble english. they have been with me in my heart and sould ever since. There’s always a stones song to make you feel something whatever mood you may be in, there’s a party song, there’s a now i’m pissed song, there’s a now i’m sad song, there’s a now i’m tired song, a wake up song, a making love song, a song for my straight friends, a song for my freaky friends and so on. I really love this band and hope they roll on for some more years. I know i can be a set list winer or a why no mick taylor winer, or why no jagger/richards singing together winer but i do it because i love them. Two words learned from Keith…….ONE LOVE ps can they please play this song for us live, they owe us, i’m sure chuck can handle this son

Chuck is bright and takes care of everything. I basically had the same experience regarding discovering their songs. It was my aunt from Stuttgart who made a tape with all the early hits and my dear old dad who took me to the concert. After that I got a great coffeetable book from my grandma which filled me in on the story behind the band, around the bend, whatever. I remember repulsion when I first watched them from a DVD and a few years later I got to see them live several times. My sister Lisa was there too. It just got better on every tour, last year I saw them with my girlfriend in Hamburg. She wasn’t my girlfriend at the time but that changed before the shows

that is an almost divine truth although to the Stones it may seem common. The crucial difference might be that I firmly wish to grow up. Wisdom is the key but Experience is the

What happened to the Stones fans, they bacame so serious and boring, any chance we can go back to the 70’s again. I want to go see a stones show with Taylor playing guitar on every song, do drugs and have lots of sex. The Stones fans are turning into boring old farts. I need the back to the future machine, i wanna be part of a stones riot

I wish you’d make up your mind…I had just started the dedication:  “For ‘Nita who thinks I should really write a book.”  I’ll need to amend this to:  “For ‘Nita who said she wanted me to write a book but now says I should do it later.”
